Bolzano, e-mobility: 35 new charging stations Powy equipped with anti-misuse sensors

• The new charging stations are located at 18 sites throughout the city, for a total of 35 charging stations, representing a total investment of approximately 700,000 euros  

• The stations also feature smart sensors that monitor parking spaces to prevent unauthorized parking and improve the charging experience  

Bolzano, July 30, 2026 – Powy, a company that owns, develops, and operates Italy’s leading independent network of public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, is bringing 35 new charging stations to Bolzano. This project significantly strengthens the local infrastructure and involves a total investment of approximately 700,000 euros.

The plan calls for a total of 18 charging stations, 15 of which have already been installed, while 2 locations are awaiting final permits and 1 will be taken over in 2029. The infrastructure is designed to meet diverse mobility needs with the following configuration: 1 station using AC, 9 using DC, 6 using DC+, and 2 using HPC technology. The rollout plan is proceeding at a rapid pace: by the end of July, there will already be 8 active stations, for a total
of 16 operational charging points (2 at AC, 6 at DC, 6 at DC+, and 2 using HPC technology). The stations set to go live in July will cover strategic areas such as Via Milano, Via Volta, Via Cassa di Risparmio, Via Claudia Augusta, and Viale Europa.

Furthermore, to ensure the best possible service and optimize the use of the infrastructure, the stations will be equipped with smart parking space monitoring sensors. This technology, installed in the road surface, detects the presence of vehicles and distinguishes between those charging and those parked illegally, thereby preventing the unauthorized occupation of spaces designated for electric mobility. The new network is designed to specifically address the actual needs of the Bolzano area, which is facing a rapidly growing demand.
According to the most recent official data from Motus-E, updated as of March 2026, Trentino-Alto Adige is, in fact, the Italian region with the highest percentage growth in public charging stations (+35.6% over the past year). In this dynamic context, Powy ’s initiative aims to combine the rapid expansion of the network with the highest standards of sustainability and operational excellence.

The company’s project was selected by the municipal commission for its integrated approach and for fully meeting the quality and merit-based criteria required by the call for proposals.
In fact, Powy ’s proposal includes the supply of energy from renewable sources, the adoption of infrastructure with a minimalist design and low visual impact to respect the urban landscape, and a multilingual customer service. This proposal aligns with both the needs of residents and the significant tourist traffic—particularly from Germany, which represents South Tyrol’s largest market and is the most advanced in Europe in terms of electric vehicle adoption.
