The cost of charging your electric vehicle at public charging stations depends on three main factors: the charging station’s speed, the number of kWh delivered, and the provider (or app) you choose to use. Here’s a guide to help you understand how it works and how much it costs to charge your vehicle away from home.
Charging Rates
The updated prices listed below apply exclusively to the Powy app, Direct Payment (QR Code), and POS channels. Rates on the Powy app may vary if promotions are active.
For sessions initiated via Direct Payment or POS, there is a €0.40 activation fee, which does not apply to the Powy app. To ensure sufficient funds are available, €80 will be temporarily held for sessions initiated via the Powy app, and €75 for Direct Payment and POS; any unused funds will be refunded at the end of the session.

How Does the Market Work?
Charging Scenarios
In the public charging infrastructure, the price of electricity is not uniform but varies depending on the usage scenario and the type of charging station:
AC Charging
Alternating Current
It has lower power output and takes longer.
This is the ideal scenario when the car is parked for an extended period (e.g., at work, overnight, while shopping). Thanks to lower infrastructure costs, it is the most economical option per kWh.
DC HPC Charging
Direct Current and Ultra-Fast Current
Power is supplied directly
to the battery, bypassing the vehicle’s internal charger. This ensures very fast charging times
(about 20–30 minutes), but at a higher cost per kWh.
Parking Fees at the End of the Parking Period
Occupancy Penalties
Once charging is complete, there is a
grace period (usually 60 minutes). After this time has elapsed, a per-minute fee is charged to vacate the parking space.
How much does it cost to recharge? Here are some examples
To help you understand charging costs, we’ve outlined three usage scenarios based on Powy direct rates.
Keep in mind that, on average, 1 kWh corresponds to 4–7 km of range.
Note: Prices are approximate.

Are you using another app (roaming)?
The price may change
In the electric vehicle sector, interoperability (roaming) is available: you can activate a Powy charging station Powy through a third-party operator’s app (eMSP). However, the rates listed on this page apply only to Powy direct channels
( Powy app, Direct Payment, and POS). With other providers, the final price depends on their terms and conditions.
What may vary with other apps:
Price per kWh
It can be higher or based on time
Additional Fees
Any session setup costs
Subscriptions
Dependent on the operator's plan
Promotions
Not applicable to Powy offers
How to navigate this: Always check the price on your provider's app before starting your session.
