NRP focuses on electric cars and scrapping: opportunities for families and businesses

The Italian government accelerates sustainable mobility. With the PNRR update approved on May 20, 2025, 597 million euros in new incentives are allocated to encourage the scrapping of the most polluting vehicles and the purchase of zero-emission electric cars.
A measure that looks to the future, adapting priorities to concrete developments in the sector and aiming for faster growth of the electric vehicle fleet. Approved by the Cabina di Regia meeting at Palazzo Chigi, the revision of the NRP will now have to go through Parliament and the European Commission. Only then will the operational modalities be defined through the implementing decrees, which are still awaiting publication.
A new impetus for electric cars
According to official documents, the investment aims to directly support the spread of electric cars, with incentives aimed at:
- low ISEE families, who will be able to replace their endothermic vehicle with an electric car thanks to dedicated grants;
- microenterprises, which will have access to support for the purchase of electric commercial vehicles (categories N1 and N2);
- urban areas with high density and pollution, where the change may have an immediate environmental impact.
The stated goal is clear: to bring 39,000 new electric cars to Italian roads, thus making a concrete contribution to the ecological transition.
More electric cars on the way, need a network to match
The expected increase in the number of electric cars brings a challenge and an opportunity for all players in the industry: to strengthen the charging network to accompany this growth.
In fact, the revised plan makes it possible to respond more quickly to demand, now focusing on one of the most dynamic elements of the market: the spread of electric cars. But to make this process truly effective, it is essential that public and private infrastructure go hand in hand.
Powy: accelerating the charging network, today
With the public boosting the purchase of electric cars, the private sector can play a decisive role in filling infrastructure needs quickly.
The Powy model is based on a turnkey proposition for partners such as hotels, parking lots, shopping malls, businesses, and PAs:
- Quick and ultra-fast columns powered by 100% renewable energy;
- Smart technologies for managing, monitoring and analyzing charge flows;
- widespread presence in more than 14 Italian regions, with expansion also underway in Spain.
Those who choose to install columns today are preparing to intercept the growing flow of "electric" users and offer a value-added service that can generate competitive advantages in the medium term.
The time to act is now
Increased incentives for buying electric cars is positive news for the entire electric mobility ecosystem. To make it sustainable and lasting, however, a solid and affordable infrastructure is needed.
If you run a hospitality facility, a parking lot, a fleet business, or operate in the public sector, now is the ideal time to equip yourself with modern and efficient charging solutions.
