The Need
Municipal governments identified a clear shared need: to overcome the barriers associated with electric mobility at high altitudes. Tourists using electric vehicles, a rapidly growing market segment that is particularly sensitive to environmental issues, were often held back by charging anxiety, concerned about the scarcity of reliable infrastructure in a mountainous setting.
For both municipalities, it was crucial to respond to this need not only to better welcome these visitors, but also to strengthen their image as cutting-edge, environmentally conscious tourist destinations.
An efficient and widespread recharging infrastructure would have boosted sustainable tourism, contributing concretely to the reduction of air pollution and promoting a culture of environmental sustainability that can be used by everyone on a daily basis, opening up new development opportunities for the entire area.
The solution
To make this shared vision a reality, the municipalities of Sestriere and Sauze d'Oulx have entered into a fruitful collaboration with Powy The intervention was planned in close synergy with theUnione Montana Comuni Olimpici Via LatteaMountain Union, helping to create a more extensive and reliable charging network throughout the district.
Four direct current (DC) charging points have been installed in Sestriere, located in strategic areas of the town, in Via Monterotta and Piazza Agnelli. In Sauze d'Oulx, four charging points have been installed, two alternating current (AC) and two direct current (DC), located in Viale Genevris and Viale Miramonti. All stations guarantee fast, efficient, and reliable service to all visitors.
The solution offered by Powy has not only solved the logistical problem of charging at high altitudes, but has also allowed Sestriere and Sauze d'Oulx to capitalize on their commitment to sustainability, transforming it into a distinctive element of their tourism offer and consolidating their reputation as modern and green destinations in the Italian Alpine tourism scene.
