The customer
Immobiliare Grande Distribuzione SIIQ S.p.A. is one of the leading and most financially sound players in Italy’s retail real estate sector, owning a vast portfolio of shopping centers located throughout the country. IGD Siiq also operates as a service provider for the management of third-party institutional portfolios and was historically the first company in Italy to be listed under the SIIQ regime on the STAR segment of Borsa Italiana.
The Challenge
IGD Siiq was looking for a technological solution that would allow visitors to quickly charge their vehicles in the parking lots of shopping centers, using only energy certified as 100% renewable for the service.
The company had set itself two key goals: to improve the quality of the service infrastructure offered to customers and to move swiftly forward with the decarbonization of its real estate portfolio.
The need was to partner with a dynamic and well-structured organization to accelerate progress toward the ambitious goal of 200 charging stations, as outlined in their 2025–2027 Business Plan.
The Solution
To implement this development plan, IGD Siiq has chosen to partner with Powy, which manages and oversees the entire lifecycle of the charging infrastructure. The project began at the Maremà Shopping Center in Grosseto, where a station equipped with two DC fast-charging points (DC) was installed, designed to allow drivers to charge their vehicles quickly.
Alongside this first installation is the project for the Katanè Shopping Center in Gravina di Catania, which currently includes a station with two AC charging points (AC).
The partnership between IGD Siiq and Powy thus makes it possible to integrate electric vehicle charging into two major shopping centers, offering an additional service to visitors and keeping pace with their evolving mobility needs.
