Powy In Spain contributes to the future of electric mobility
  • Powy facilitates the transition to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation system, both in Barcelona and in the rest of Spain.
  • The operator of electric vehicle charging points manages to reduce a total of 1,200 tons of CO2 emissions between Italy and Spain.

Barcelona, June 4, 2024 - Powy, a recognized operator of electric vehicle charging points, is celebrating its third anniversary in Barcelona, standing out for its significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions in the city. Between January and April 2024, Powy achieved a decrease of more than 330 thousand kilograms of CO2 emissions, underscoring its positive impact on the fight against climate change. This achievement is a testament to Powy 's commitment to sustainability and improving citizens' quality of life.

In addition, since its inception, Powy has played a crucial role in promoting electric mobility, reducing a total of 1,200 tons of CO2 between Italy and Spain. This data is collected systematically through a smart, interconnected infrastructure. The company collects information on charging sessions and the amount of energy supplied in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and correlates it with CO2 emissions.

During its three years of operation in Barcelona, Powy has made progress in transitioning to a more sustainable transportation system. The company has ambitious expansion plans, aiming to exceed 100 charging points and reach more than 600 active points by the end of 2024. These facilities are strategically placed to maximize accessibility and optimize service to users, in key locations such as the Arsenal sports center and the Abba Garden hotel in Barcelona.

The choice of Barcelona as the starting point for Powy 's European expansion was no accident. Co-founders Andrea Brentan, former CEO of Endesa, and Federico Fea, former director of innovation at Endesa, considered the city's commitment to smart and sustainable mobility. This environment has enabled Powy to contribute to the transformation of private transportation, promoting a more efficient and environmentally friendly mobility system.

"Electric mobility not only reduces emissions of air pollutants, but also noise pollution, creating quieter and more pleasant urban environments," Andrea Brentan points out. "The transition to electric mobility improves air quality and reduces health risks, so Barcelona's bet in this area reinforces our confidence in the project".

In the words of Ignacio Capurro, director of business development for Powy in Spain, "We are proud to improve the quality of life for citizens by contributing to the reduction of polluting emissions in Italy and Spain through our electric vehicle charging infrastructure."
